Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 28, 2026

1. Introduction

Lexify ("we," "our," or "us") operates a legal consultation marketplace that connects clients with verified lawyers in the Philippines. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our website, application, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. Our Service and this policy are hosted on our own verified domain.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly and information that we obtain automatically when you use the Service.

Information you provide

  • Account information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, password (stored in hashed form), phone number if provided, and role (client or lawyer). If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google profile information (e.g. name, email) to create or link your account.
  • Profile information: Lawyers may provide practice areas, bio, rates, availability, and verification documents. Clients may provide booking-related details.
  • Booking and consultation data: Request details, messages with lawyers, consultation type (chat, voice, or video), and any information you share during consultations.
  • Payment information: We do not store full card numbers. Payment and billing data are processed by our payment provider; we receive transaction status and identifiers necessary for held payments and payouts.
  • Communications: When you contact support or use in-app messaging, we retain the content of those communications.

Information we obtain automatically

  • Usage data: Log data (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
  • Device information: Device type and identifiers where relevant for security or compatibility.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate you (including via Google sign-in when you choose it).
  • Facilitate discovery of lawyers, booking of consultations, and delivery of chat, voice, or video consultations.
  • Process payments, hold funds until consultation completion and dispute validation, and release them in accordance with our booking and payout policies.
  • For lawyers who connect Google Calendar: create calendar events and generate meeting links (e.g. Google Meet) for scheduled consultations.
  • Send transactional communications (e.g. booking confirmations, reminders, payment receipts) and respond to support requests.
  • Improve the Service, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or marketing by third parties in a way that identifies you for their ads.

4. Sharing of Information

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • With other users: As necessary to provide the Service (e.g. clients and lawyers see each other's profile and booking-related information; messages are visible to the parties in the conversation).
  • Service providers: We use trusted third parties for hosting, payment processing, email delivery, and (if you use it) Google sign-in and Google Calendar. These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations to protect your data.
  • Legal and safety: We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of users, or in connection with a merger or sale of assets.

When you sign in with Google or connect Google Calendar, Google's use of your data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We use Google data only to provide account creation, authentication, and (for lawyers) calendar and meeting link functionality.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. Essential cookies are necessary for the Service to function. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may limit some features.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with legal obligations (e.g. tax, regulatory). When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data in accordance with our retention schedule, except where we must retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes.

7. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and secure development practices. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we work to protect your data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data (you can update much of this in your account profile).
  • Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal and operational requirements.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Data portability, where applicable.
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on consent (e.g. optional communications).
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.

To exercise these rights, update your account settings where possible or contact us via the Support page. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

9. Children

The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

10. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in the Philippines and in other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. contracts, standard contractual clauses) where required by law when transferring data across borders.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If we make material changes, we may notify you by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
